TŪ ORA ’ S TE PUNA

BINDY WILLIAMS-LOUGH TŪ ORA COMPASS HEALTH

background

Tū Ora began their digital transformation journey in mid-2019, migrating from a legacy environment replete with out-of-date, bespoke applications and multiple databases, physical and virtual servers. In early 2020, Tū Ora, with Aceso accelerated the digital transformation, moving to SharePoint365 and Teams in less than two months as the pandemic emerged in New Zealand. This enabled the entire workforce to work effectively from remote sites due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tū Ora rebranded Pinga as Te Puna Mātauranga, which means the spring or source of knowledge in Te Reo Māori. Te Puna Mātauranga presents a range of digital services to clinical and administrative staff including: • Clinical reporting, such as risk stratification of patients at higher risk of poor health outcomes. • A claims and payments system, underlined by a complex rules engine to create all the business rules, required removing the need for manual handling of most claims. This has simplified and sped up the process, reducing inefficiencies and data inaccuracies. • Registrations, courses and certifications for continuing professional development. • News/newsletter functions to communicate important information to different groups.

• A library of online resources used by general practices to enhance patient care. • Website hosting for Tū Ora and many general practices in its network. • For management, Te Puna has helped unify large data sets, cleaning out data discrepancies, and enriching them to extract better results for the improved performance of the organisation, service delivery to practices and health outcomes to patients and the community. outcomes In summary, with a single login to one platform, a clinician or practice manager can now access a range of digital services to help them: • Identify at-risk patients. • Report on equity to ensure no one falls through the cracks. • Lodge claims for services provided to patients. • Ensure they maintain their professional skills through regular CPD. • Get up-to-date news and feeds. Healthcare organisations needed to quickly adapt to new ways of working due to Covid-19. Tū Ora is one such organisation who had the plan in place and has implemented a system that empowers the workforce to deliver better health services.

Tū Ora Compass Health is a primary health organisation serving over 330,000 people across the Wellington, Porirua, Wairarapa, and Kāpiti regions, with 57 medical practices in their network, delivering more than 1.5 million consults annually. As part of its digital transformation programme, Tū Ora’s goal was to streamline their digital footprint and establish a single ‘source of truth’, with an emphasis on identity, clinician management, data storage and analytics.

implementation

Tū Ora partnered with Aceso Health to implement Aceso
